Dale: Outdoor StoryWalk® Dedicated to former director Karen Moran
On Monday, April 23, 2018, Lincoln Heritage Public Library dedicated an outdoor StoryWalk® with a ribbon-cutting for former library director Karen Moran, who passed away in 2017. Karen served as the library director from 1997 to 2008. The inaugural story was Karen’s favorite book “Heidi.”
While she was director, Karen accomplished many wonderful things, such as supporting the Library’s Friends group, starting the Undergrounds monthly music, growing the Summer Reading program, and working hard to make the library an inviting place for the Hispanic community. She also had a strong passion for community outreach, a love for the outdoors, and a soft spot for children’s books. This storywalk greatly reflects Karen’s passions and accomplishments as a library director and a woman who loved the library and all it had to offer.
The community has also been greatly involved in this project, and it could not have been accomplished without their help.
Thanks to the Heritage Hills Construction Class, the Dale Kiwanis Club, the Friends of Lincoln State Park, the Heritage Hills FFA Group, the Dale Friends of Lincoln Heritage Public Library, and the library board. All groups who helped with the story walk were invited to the ribbon-cutting, along with former and present library board members and Karen’s friends and family.
The StoryWalk® is fun for the whole family. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the stories are changed frequently.
Chrisney: Outdoor StoryWalk®
The Chrisney Storywalk® was created in the Fall of 2019 thanks to the Chrisney Elementary PTO and the Chrisney Friends of Lincoln Heritage Public Library. Enjoy this walking path around the Chrisney Branch. What a wonderful way to make exercise fun while reading a new monthly story.
